Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring a difference in inter-spatial channel propagation delay time and a method for measuring a difference in inter-spatial channel propagation delay time having a high resolution in a limited optical band.SOLUTION: A device for measuring a difference in inter-spatial channel propagation delay time according to the present invention is constituted to sweep the optical frequency of a light source per spatial channel and generate a beat signal with local light, and divide a beat frequency difference analyzed from a temporal change rate of phase difference of the beat signal by a frequency sweep speed, thereby measuring a difference in inter-spatial channel propagation delay time. Since a conventional FMCW method involves doing frequency analysis from Fourier transformation, it is impossible to analyze such a small propagation delay time difference as a 2π or larger beat signal phase difference would not occur within a measurement time for reasons of the frequency resolution of Fourier transformation. By contrast, as the present invention finds a propagation delay time difference directly from the beat signal phase difference, it is possible to make analysis even when the beat signal phase difference is 2π or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
