PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection plate of an escalator which can reduce a contact frequency of hands or the like of a passenger more than a conventional protection plate.SOLUTION: In a construction, there are arranged a flat plate part 30 which is vertically attached to a ceiling 24 being a crossing part crossing with a moving handrail 22 between a lower floor and an upper floor with an interval D1 in a horizontal direction orthogonal to the moving handrail 22, and a cylinder member 36 which is arranged at the lower floor side of the flat plate part 30 and is a front edge at which a portion protruded from the moving handrail 22 while straddling the interval D1 contacts with a person or an object which is transported to the upper floor from the lower floor by an escalator 10 being a passenger conveyor. A width of the cylinder member 36 in the horizontal direction is thicker than a width of the flat plate part 30, and the cylinder member 36 is arranged at a side opposite to the moving handrail 22 with respect to a virtual plane IP1 including a main surface 30A which faces the moving handrail 22 of the flat plate part 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
