Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake and exhaust device for a multi-cylinder engine which can enhance the intake efficiency with a simple structure to improve engine torque and fuel consumption performance.SOLUTION: A throttle part 53 interposed between an independent exhaust passage 52 and a joined part 58 and a flow passage area changing means 55f that can change the flow passage area of each gas passage formed in the throttle part 53 are provided. In a condition that the flow passage area is smaller than the maximum area, the gas passage has a shape that the flow passage area becomes smaller in the downstream side and in a high speed high load region A1, the flow passage area of each gas flow passage is made to have the maximum area and meanwhile, in a second operation region A2 including a low speed load region, the flow passage area of each gas passage is made smaller than the maximum area and the intake and exhaust valves are overlapped and in the cylinders in which exhaust orders are continuous, when one exhaust valve is opened, another intake and exhaust valves are overlapped.
