To provide a head race for water-power generation, which facilitates maintenance thereof, and ensures stable power generation.
The head race 5A is arranged in a river for introducing water for water-power generation from the river into a hydraulic power plant. In the head race, a refuse removal screen 11 having a height from a bottom of the head race 5A to a level that reaches at least a water surface, is disposed so as to span the head race 5A in a width direction, and refuse catching wire netting 14 for catching refuse mixed in water flowing through a lower portion of the head race 5A, is disposed at a location on an upstream side of the refuse removal screen 11, so as to span a bottom of the head race 5A in the width direction.
