Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular rack-and-pinion mechanism that can inhibit an increase in a diameter of a rack itself and can increase allowable surface pressure of a rack tooth while inhibiting an increase in a weight.SOLUTION: A vehicular rack-and-pinion mechanism 1 includes: a pinion 11 supported so as to be rotatable about a shaft while including a gear tooth 12; and a rack shaft 21 including a rack tooth 22 capable of engaging with the gear tooth 12, the vehicular rack-and-pinion mechanism being applicable to a steering device S. A coating film 31 laminated with a plurality of coating each having different hardness is formed at a surface of the rack tooth 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
