Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reaction wheel assembly (RWA) system having high mass efficiency.SOLUTION: A reaction wheel assembly (RWA) system 130 having a multi-faced bracket structure 132 mounted with an RWA 138 is provided. The RWA system comprises a bracket structure assembled from interchangeable panels 134 as complex items (for example, 2 to 4). Each bracket panel defines a mount bracket mounted with the RWA. The bracket panel has an integrated bearing cartridge feature 156 comprising a spin bearing of the RWA. The interchangeable panels have a mutual connection feature 158 capable of connecting the panels in an accurate angle relationship. The bracket structure is assembled with two interchangeable panels or formed as a single piece. The multi-faced bracket structure may comprise a peaked form factor which supports two RWAs mounted to the bracket structure in a back-to-back relationship.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
