To provide a method for refining an Al scrap, by which an Al-refined body simultaneously satisfying a high removal rate of Si and a high recovery rate of an Al crystallized product from the Al scrap can be efficiently obtained, wherein composition gradient in the Al refined body is suppressed.
The refining method comprises: a first refining step comprising a primary crystal production step of producing a primary crystal 10 from a molten metal 4 of the Al scrap in a container 3 made of graphite, a pressure-applying step of separating the molten bath 4 of the Al scrap into a primary crystal aggregate 12 and an enriched liquid phase 11 and applying a first prescribed pressure thereto and a compacting plate keeping step; and a second refining step of repeating a series of steps at least once subsequently after the first refining step, thereby recovering the Al refined body, wherein the series of steps comprises a reheating step of reheating the container 3 made of graphite, thereby melting an enriched portion 11a remaining in the aggregate 12 of the primary crystal and an enriched portion discharging step of applying a second prescribed pressure to the aggregate 12 of the primary crystal by the compacting plate 6, thereby discharging the enriched portion 11a.
