Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel reformer capable of reforming fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine to fuel which can be easily vaporized, and capable of achieving low fuel consumption and low emission.SOLUTION: The fuel reformer is applied to a vehicle comprising a fuel tank 31 and a fuel supply device 34 supplying fuel LF in the fuel tank to an internal combustion engine 10, the fuel reformer comprises an irradiation device 70 emitting light from an irradiation part 73. The irradiation part 73 is disposed on a position where the irradiation part 73 can irradiate the fuel LF stored in the fuel tank with light without passing through a gas phase region AR in the fuel tank 31. Hence, carbon hydride of high molecular weight in the fuel can be reformed to carbon hydride of low molecular weight by always irradiating the fuel in the fuel tank with light, and a temperature of the fuel can be increased. Vaporization of the fuel injected to the internal combustion engine is enhanced, consequently improvement in the fuel consumption and reduction in emission can be achieved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
