To provide a rotation detector that can be easily attached to or removed from an existing detection target device and that can detect rotation of a rotational body of the detection target device easily or at low cost.SOLUTION: A rotation detector 1 includes: a rotary base body 11 removably attached to a rotational shaft 91, the rotary base body rotating with a rotary shaft 91 and having a magnet 21; a stationary base body 16 having a magnetic sensor 23, the magnetic sensor having a magnetic element that generates a large Barkhausen effect; and a bearing 19 located between the rotary base body 11 and the stationary base body 16, the bearing supporting the stationary base body 16 so that the base body can rotate around the rotational base body 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
