Title:
NON-FEEDBACK STEERING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2509015
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of feedback from a steerable member to a steering wheel by transmitting torsional force from the steering wheel to the steerable member through a push-pull cable in a transmission condition, and preventing the torsional force from being transmitted from the steerable member to the steering wheel in a lock condition.
CONSTITUTION: A steerable member 14 is driven by responding to the pushing or pulling force of a push-pull cable 22 responding to the rotation of a steering wheel 12 in a helm assembly 20. The helm assembly 20 includes a clutch mechanism 28 operatively-connected to a steering wheel shaft 18, and the clutch mechanism 28 prevents generation of feedback of torsional force from the steerable member 14 to the steering wheel 12. The helm assembly 20 also includes a drive mechanism 30 operatively-connected between the clutch mechanism 28 and the push-pull cable 22, and the drive mechanism 30 responds to the rotation of the steering wheel 12 and drives the push-pull cable 22.
