Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use supplying power to an electric furnace to contribute to long life of a furnace refractory.SOLUTION: A temperature is determined at a plurality of positions inside of a furnace wall and an outer face of the furnace wall of an electric furnace 1 by thermocouples 5, thermal flux in an inner peripheral surface 1a of the furnace wall is calculated based on the measured temperature and initiation of burn through of scraps is determined based on the thermal flux in the furnace wall inner face 1a. A cross point (hot spot 7) between a linear 6 which is orthogonal to a center axis S of the electric furnace 1 and passes a center axis of an arc electrode 3 and the inner peripheral face 1a of the furnace wall is determined, and a plurality of temperature detection edges 5 are arranged in an area in 0.2 L in a direction parallel to the center axis S of the electric furnace 1 and a direction with right angle with the direction respectively, where distance from a center of the arc electrode 3 to the hotspot 7 corresponding to the same is L, and above a hot water surface of molten steel when all scraps are molten.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
