Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of separating copper and arsenic from a nonferrous smelting intermediary product, excellent in separability of copper and arsenic, capable of separating copper to such a state that a copper content in an arsenic leaching solution is <0.1 g/L or almost zero and enabling early recovery of copper by inexpensive chemical cost.SOLUTION: The method of separating copper and arsenic includes obtaining the leaching residue including copper and a leaching liquid including arsenic by applying a leaching operation to a slurry prepared by blending the nonferrous smelting intermediary product containing copper and arsenic with elemental sulfur. The leaching operation comprises sequentially conducting early leaching and late leaching. The early leaching is an oxidation leaching conducted while blowing oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas into the slurry, and the late leaching is a reduction leaching conducted while blowing SOgas or SO-containing gas into the slurry.
