PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reliably sew a looper thread cut end portion into stitches in the sewing start portion of a subsequent fabric even without performing the troublesome work of cutting the looper thread cut end portion with hand scissors or the like at the end of sewing, causing the deterioration of sewing work efficiency, the impairment of the handleability of a fabric, damage to the fabric, or the like.SOLUTION: A method for sewing a fabric includes: a first step of, after the end of sewing, bringing a looper thread cut end portion LT2 cut by a thread cutter into a free state; a second step of shifting the portion toward the downstream side of a looper 3 in a sewing advance direction in a posture parallel to the sewing advance direction; a third step of pinching and holding a portion near the tip of the looper thread cut end portion; a fourth step of, after the half rotation motion of a sewing machine for forming stitches in a subsequent fabric, guiding a middle portion LT2a of a looper thread to between left and right needles and holding it at the position in a state of being inhibited from moving in directions except the sewing advance direction; and a fifth step of, after the rotation motion of the sewing machine, releasing the pinching and holding of the portion near the tip of the looper thread cut end portion. Thereby, the looper thread cut end portion is sewn into the stitches in the subsequent fabric.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
