PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that the productivity is reduced due to extension of the processing time and the unnecessary drive sound is generated since cutting processing of staple feet is performed unconditionally at the staple binding processing.SOLUTION: A sheet binding device calculates the length of an unnecessary portion of a staple needle from the thickness of a sheet bundle to be bound and the length of a binding needle, performs the operation of cutting the unnecessary portion of the staple needle by cutting means when there is the need to cut the unnecessary portion, and does not perform the cutting operation of the staple needle when there is no need to cut the unnecessary portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
