Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner having a function of purifying contaminant by a photocatalyst, in which the service life of a light source is prolonged to be free from maintenance for use in a general dwelling.
SOLUTION: An air cleaner has a light source 24 comprising a cold cathode type fluorescent lamp. The wavelengths of emitted light are mainly distributed in an ultraviolet ray region having a peak at 370nm so as to activate photocatalyst efficiently and prolong the service life of the lamp. A reflecting plate 25 is provided on the opposite side to a deodorizing filter 23 with the light source 24 sandwiched between them, thereby directing the reflected light to the deodorizing filter 23, so that illumination can be performed efficiently and the contaminant can be purified efficiently.
