Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depolymerization method of an unsaturated polyester which can be implemented easily and quickly at a low cost by using a simple apparatus, which does not require the use of a reaction catalyst, in particular, and which does not require a reaction solvent abiding in a supercritical or subcritical state.SOLUTION: The provided depolymerization method of an unsaturated polyester includes a step of depolymerizing an unsaturated polyester based on the irradiation thereof with microwaves in the presence of at least one type of alcohol selected from the group consisting of alkylene glycols, glycerin, and benzyl alcohol as a reaction solvent(s) under a pressure condition higher than normal pressure but not entailing a supercritical or subcritical state of the reaction solvent. It is permissible for the unsaturated polyester to be an unsaturated polyester included within a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP).
