Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start mechanism of an internal combustion engine which favorably maintains the weight balance of the internal combustion engine in an axial direction by distributively arranging members at both sides of a balance shaft (50) in the axial direction, and can reduce a size of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In a start mechanism of an internal combustion engine in which a drive force of a starter motor (61) is transmitted to a crankshaft (30) via a starter oneway clutch (70) which is arranged at the balancer shaft (50), the crankshaft (30) and the balance shaft (50) which are parallel with each other are constituted so that a crank gear (31) arranged at the crankshaft (30) and a balancer gear (51) arranged at the balance shaft (50) are engaged with each other, the starter oneway clutch (70) is arranged at one end side of the balancer shaft (50) in an axial direction, and the balancer gear (51) is arranged at the other end side of the balancer shaft (50).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
