Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high reliable pump unit capable of accurately detecting that either a part of or entire impeller is exposed in surrounding air in order to reduce a starting torque of the pump unit by driving an impeller in the surrounding air.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a pump unit comprising a casing 4, a main shaft 2 arranged in the casing in such a way that the main shaft can be rotated and driven there, an impeller 3 fixed at the main shaft 2, a suction part 7 arranged in the casing and a water feeding part 6 where water is fed by the impeller. There are provided an air feeding pipe 30 for supplying compressed air to the casing, and a reference pipe 40 having its lower end opened at an upper position than that of the suction part and having its upper end connected to any one of the air feeding pipe 30, the casing or casing communicating part, and a pressure detecting part 50 for detecting a pressure difference between the casing 4 and the reference pipe 40. When the pressure difference becomes a prescribed value, the impeller 3 is started to operate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
