Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element low in drive voltage and capable of attaining uniform light emission, in an organic electroluminescent element using a substrate for patterning an organic thin film having a bank formed on a charge transport layer.SOLUTION: A substrate for patterning an organic thin film used for an organic electroluminescent element includes an anode layer 12, a hole injection layer, and a hole transport layer 2a, in order, on a substrate 1, and has a bank 11 and a region 8 partitioned by the bank, on the hole transport layer. A distance A from an interface between the anode layer and the hole injection layer to an interface between the hole transport layer and the bank in the region where the bank on the hole transport layer is formed is shorter than a distance B to the surface of the region partitioned by the bank on the hole transport layer. In an organic electroluminescent element, the substrate for patterning an organic thin film is used.
