Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the device compact and eliminate variance in contrast by providing plural resistance bodies which divide a source voltage as a driving means, which supplies a driving voltage to a liquid crystal display panel, on the same substrate.

CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display device is equipped with the time- division drive type liquid crystal display panel 1 and a controller driver element 2 which is formed on the semiconductor substrate and divides the source voltage and supplies driving voltages having plural potentials for time-division driving to the liquid crystal display panel 1. Then the controller driver element 2 has the five resistors for dividing the applied voltage between VCC and GND into five stages on the same semiconductor substrate where the controller driver element 2 is formed. Therefore, this liquid crystal display device operates as a 1/5-bias liquid crystal display element. Consequently, the relative precision of the resistors is improved and variance in liquid crystal driving voltage due to variance among the resistance bodies is suppressed. Further, the number of elements is decreased to reduce the mount area, improve the reliability, and reduce the cost.
