Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of introducing a renewable fuel or renewable oil as a feedstock into refinery systems or field upgrading equipment.SOLUTION: A method comprises converting, in a rapid thermal processing system, at least 60% of cellulosic biomass into a non-condensable renewable fuel oil as a feedstock, and co-processing the renewable fuel with a petroleum fraction feedstock. For example, the co-processing is performed in a fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) to produce liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, C3-C4), gasoline (C5-221°C), light cycle oil (LCO, 221-343°C), heavy cycle oil (HCO, 343°C+), coke, and the like.SELECTED DRAWING: None
