Abstract:
To provide a system in which an air delivery lumen of an endotracheal tube or the like optionally provides a suction effect.SOLUTION: An endotracheal suction system comprises: an endotracheal tube having a proximal end port defining a flow passage for sending a gas flow to a throat region through a feed line and the endotracheal tube and coupled to the feed line; and an airway adapter device including a first fitting at a first end and a second fitting at a second end, the first fitting including a female fitting that comprises a cylindrical exterior and a tapered lumen, the second fitting including a male fitting that comprises a tapered exterior, the airway adapter device defining a suction path to remove body fluid located in the throat region via the endotracheal tube, a vacuum line, and the airway adapter device, the tapered lumen of the female fitting being adapted for mating with the proximal end port of the endotracheal tube, the tapered exterior of the male fitting being inserted in a female type connector of the vacuum line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
