A vibrotactile display comprising at least one vibrotactile actuator arranged in a predetermined pattern or array on a wearable item, the wearable item configured to be worn by an individual on a predetermined portion of the body, the vibrotactile display further comprising an actuator controller coupled to the at least one vibrotactile actuator and programmed to actuate the at least one vibrotactile actuator to impart information to the individual in predetermined ways.
