Title:
BIOMASS GASIFICATION PROCESS AND APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3208414
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To gasify biomass by using an apparatus which, if necessary, can generate a gas as an internal combustion engine fuel from water and carbon and can be dispensed with the necessity for changing an electrode because a carbon electrode can be continuously fed from biomass.
CONSTITUTION: The objective gasifier is provided which consist of a reaction chamber at least partially filled with a biomaterial system solution of at least water and carbon; a pair of spaced electrodes immersed in the solution and arranged in the reaction chamber; a means for supplying a direct current between the electrodes to generate an arc; and a switching means disposed between the electric source and the electrodes and selectively switches the polarity of the current supplied to the electrodes.
