To provide a new thiol compound used suitably for producing an optical product having both high refractive index and Abbe's number, excellent in heat resistance, weather resistance, transparency, etc., and used preferably as a plastic lens, a prism, an optical fiber, an information-recording substrate, an infrared light-absorbing filter, a colored filter, etc., a method for producing the same and an intermediate of the same.
This thiol compound is expressed by general formula (1) (wherein, R is an alkane residue, a cycloalkane residue, a heterocyclic ring residue of which hetero atom is N or S, or an aromatic ring residue; and each of the residues may have substituents). The method for producing the thiol compound expressed by general formula (1) passes through the intermediate.
