Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress image defects caused by leakage of a transfer current between adjacent transfer members.SOLUTION: Primary transfer rollers 24C and 24Y are arranged opposite to photoreceptor drums 20C and 20Y with an intermediate transfer belt 141 therebetween to which a full-color toner image is transferred. During a transfer operation period at a primary transfer nip part NC and a non-transfer operation period at an adjacent primary transfer nip part NY, a first transfer current is caused to flow in the primary transfer roller 24C. Meanwhile, during a transfer operation period at the primary transfer nip part NC and a transfer operation period at the primary transfer nip part NY, a second transfer current is caused to flow in the primary transfer roller 24C. The absolute value of the first transfer current is set larger than the absolute value of the second transfer current.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
