To provide a vertical-type induction-heating furnace which solves the problem that in the heating of a slab for grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet using the vertical-type induction-heating furnace, uniform heating of the slab is difficult when a gap between the edge part of the slab and the induction-heating wall is generated, by properly adjusting the distance between the heating furnace wall (heating auxiliary material) and the slab, the furnace being capable of flexibly handling slabs of various lengths.
The heating auxiliary material is respectively provided in the edge part at one end surface side or both end surfaces of a slab and the heating auxiliary material is composed of one pair of heat-insulating materials, in which the opposite surfaces are inclined and non-opposite surfaces are parallel. The heating auxiliary material is disposed so as to be vertically slidable while one of the heat-insulating materials is fixed to the inner surface of the furnace wall and the inclined surface of the other heat-insulating material is in contact with the inclined surface of the above heat-insulating material. In the vertical-type induction-heating furnace, the gap between the edge surface of the slab and the heating auxiliary material is adjusted by vertically sliding one of the heat-insulating materials according to the variation of the slab lengths.
