Abstract:
A gaseous fuel carburettor has (a) a housing (20, 22) with a fuel/air venturi channel (26, 32); (b) a choke valve (42) and a throttle valve (44) in the venturi channel; (c) a fuel chamber (40) and a main fuel jet (34) which connects the fuel chamber and the venturi channel; (d) a gas inlet (70, 74) connected to the fuel chamber (40); (e) a valve seat in a wall of the fuel chamber; and (f) a thin, flexible leaf or flap valve (100) with a first section fixed in the housing and a second section which diverges from the first section and which lies over the valve seat for controlling gas flow to the venturi channel (26, 32) according to the reduced jet pressure in the venturi channel. The leaf valve (100) consists of polyimide, polyester, a flexible corrosion resistant metal or flexible stainless steel and has a thickness of 0.025-0.127mm and a lever arm length of 2.54-12.7mm. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in the supply system of a gaseous fuel such as propane, methane or natural gas for small four stroke engines (e.g. for floor polishers, generators, forklift trucks or even vehicles) and also for two stroke engines. The carburettor permits idling down to 1000 rpm. under stable operating conditions and operating speeds, with a fully open throttle, of about 3600 rpm. It has especially high efficiency in the range of 1/4-3/4 full load.
