Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out the failure diagnosis of a fuel pressure sensor without deteriorating exhaust performance.SOLUTION: A vehicle is equipped with a port injection valve injecting a fuel supplied from a feed pump into an engine; and a low pressure fuel pressure sensor detecting fuel pressure P which is the supply pressure of the fuel by the feed pump. In the vehicle, an engine ECU increases the fuel pressure P to diagnosis pressure P2 higher than normal control pressure P1, when the failure diagnosis of the low pressure fuel pressure sensor is carried out, and determines the presence/absence of a failure of the low pressure fuel pressure sensor on the basis of whether the output of the low pressure fuel pressure sensor at that time is a value indicating the diagnosis pressure P2 or not. The engine ECU, if it becomes excessive fuel(an air-fuel ratio rich) by increasing the fuel pressure P to the diagnosis pressure P2, changes an engine operation point so as to increase an engine load factor by decreasing engine rotation speed while keeping engine output.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
