PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reduction based processing method of contaminated soil which, while attaining a high volume reduction rate, is possible to perform automatic-operation of a classification and a cleaning process and also to perform mass processing resulting from the improved operation efficiency.SOLUTION: The volume reduction based processing method includes: removing impurities contained in contaminated soil (the soil to be removed) as a volume reduction object; classifying, cleaning and removing gravel contents as the removal object from the contaminated soil (the soil to be removed) from which the impurities are removed; while classifying and dehydrating sand contents as the removal object from the contaminated soil (the soil to be removed) from which the gravel contents are removed using a centrifugal classification dehydrator 30 with a vertical open structure, cleaning and removing the same; and dehydrating and removing clay contents from the contaminated soil (the soil to be removed) from which the sand contents are removed.
