Abstract:

1-Sulfo-2-oxoazetidine derivates represented by the general formula: (FORMULA) (wherein R represents an organic residue connected through a carbon atom, R1 represents an amino group optionally acylated or protected, and X represents hydrogen or methoxy), and a process for their preparation shown by the scheme: (FORMULA) (wherein symbols are the same as defined above). These compounds (I) show excellent antibacterial and (Beta)-lactamase-inhibiting effects, and are utilized as medicines for humans and domestic animals.
