Abstract:
A 4,5-dihydronaphtho[1,2-b]thiophene derivative represented by the formula (1) (wherein R1 represents C1-10 1-hydroxyalkyl or C1-10 acyl, and R2 and R3 are separately bonded in respective positions selected among the 6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-positions and each independently represents hydrogen, halogeno, C1-10 alkyl, hydroxy, C1-10 alkoxy, C1-5 alkenyloxy, C1-5 alkynyloxy, benzyloxy, etc., provided that when R1 is acyl and R2 is hydrogen, then R3 is neither hydrogen nor acetyl) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the derivative. It is a novel compound effective in reducing triglyceride amount in the liver and reducing blood sugar level.
