Abstract:
5,6-cis-Carbapenem-3-carboxylic acid derivatives represented by the following formula:$(8,)$(wherein R1 represents a hydrocarbyl group or a heterocyclic group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy-protecting group, and n represents 0, 1 or 2, provided that n represents 2 when R1 represents an acetamidoethyl or acetamidoethenyl group and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a sulfonic acid group) and the salts thereof, and process for their preparation according to the following scheme:$(6,)$wherein R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a carboxy-protecting group, X represents a group to be split off, and other symbols are the same as defined above. The compounds (I) possess excellent antibacterial and beta-lactamase-inhibiting effects, thus being utilized as medicines for men and domestic animals.
