Abstract:
The invention relates to 9a-N[N'-(phenylsulfonyl)carbamoyl] derivatives of 9-deoxo-9-dihydro-9a-aza-homoerythromycin A and 5-O-desosaminyl-9-deoxo-9-dihydro-9a-aza-9a-homoerythronolide A, novel semisynthetic macrolide antibiotics from the class of azalides, of the general formula (I) wherein R<1> denotes H, C1-C4alkyl or halogen and R denotes H or cladinosyl radical, to their pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts with inorganic or organic acids, to intermediates and methods for their preparation, to a process for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions as well as to the use of pharmaceutical compositions in the treatment of bacterial infections.
