Description:
SPECIFICATION

AN A356 ALLOY THAT HAVE IMPROVED MECHANICAL PROPERTIES BY CONTRIBUTION OF CERIUM AND LANTHANUM MASTER ALLOY

Technological Aspect:

The invention relates to A356 alloys used in the production of aluminum alloy wheels.

The invention relates to the enhancement of the mechanical properties of the alloy by adding the Al-La, Al-Ce and Al-La-Ce master alloys formed by different ratios of La and Ce elements for eutectic modification of eutectic Si in A356 alloy, by combining mechanical and / or ultrasonic stirring methods.

State Of The Art:

A356 aluminum alloy is the alloy that have been commonly used on automotive industry, which have high strength / weight ratio and superior castability. In the automotive industry, it has been observed that it is frequently used in wheel manufacturing. In addition to the mechanical properties of these alloys such as tensile, impact and fatigue strength, wear resistance is also great importance. The present invention relates to the A356 alloy with improved mechanical properties.

In the prior art, Al-Sr master alloys are widely used as modifiers on the eutectic modification of the A356 alloy. However, the high burning tendency of Sr element and burning losses during holding of molten metal in crucible cause inefficient modification in production. Therefore, in the present invention, eutectic modification is provided with master alloys produced with rare earth elements, and moreover, La-Ce included compounds are distributed homogeneously into the alloy by ultrasonic and mechanical stirring. Al-Sr master alloys create intermetallic phases with grain refiner master alloys, causing undesirable impurities within the structure. The impurity problem is prevented by the master alloys used in the present invention.

In US patent document US2016045986 (A1 ) encountered in the literature research, an alloy containing cerium and lanthanum is mentioned. The mentioned alloy is not an aluminum alloy. On related patent document, aluminum-free alloy is mentioned. The mentioned alloy is not an A356 alloy.

As a result, a new A356 alloy is needed where the prior art is overcame and its disadvantages are eliminated.

A Short Explanation of Invention:

The invention is a new A356 alloy that includes additional advantages, which the prior art is overcame and its disadvantages are eliminated.

The object of the invention is to introduce a new A356 alloy with improved mechanical properties and eliminated burning loss and impurity problems.

Another object of the invention is to provide a new A356 alloy in which the eutectic modification of the A356 alloy is achieved by the Al-La, Al-Ce and Al- La-Ce master alloys.

The present invention is related to the A356 alloy used in the production of metal parts, primarily for use in the production of wheels in the automotive industry, in order to achieve all the above-mentioned objectives and the following detailed description. It is characterized by the addition of 0.1 -0.9 wt. % Al-La, Al-Ce and / or Al-La-Ce master alloys, on the eutectic modification of the alloy in order to improve the mechanical properties and eliminate impurity and burning loss problems. Explanation of Invention:

In this detailed explanation, the A356 alloy subject of the invention is explained only with examples for better understanding of the subject, without any limiting effects. The specification describes the A356 alloy produced by adding the Al- La, Al-Ce and Al-La-Ce master alloys formed by different ratios of La and Ce elements for the purpose of eutectic modification and by using mechanical and / or ultrasonic stirring methods together.

The invention includes the eutectic modification of the A356 alloy used in the production of aluminum wheels by the use of Al-La, Al-Ce and Al-La-Ce master alloys together with the use of mechanical and ultrasonic stirring methods. The A356 alloy according to the invention contains 0.1 -0.9 wt. % of Al-La, Al-Ce or Al-La-Ce master alloys. Al-La, Al-Ce or Al-La-Ce master alloys are added to the A356 alloy melted by any method. The casting process is completed after the mixture obtained is stirred by using at least one or both of the mechanical and ultrasonic stirring methods together. The efficiency of the eutectic modification was compared with the existing process by metallographic and mechanical analysis of the samples taken from the cast. Afterwards, enhancement on the mechanical properties of obtained new A356 alloy is observed.

"Ce" mentioned in the invention represents the cerium element and "La" represents the lanthanum element.
