Abstract:
An abnormal approach detection method for an electrostatic spray gun comprises: a first step for finding an initial gun distance (L) from a desired applied voltage value, which is applied to an electrostatic spray gun (53), and the relationship of gun distance to the applied voltage value, which forms a safe standard for the electrostatic spray gun; a second step for setting gun distance between the electrostatic spray gun and an article (1) to be sprayed as the initial gun distance and measuring a first current value flowing in a voltage application circuit for the electrostatic spray gun while decreasing the gun distance at a prescribed speed in a state in which paint is not supplied to the electrostatic spray gun; a third step for setting the gun distance between the electrostatic spray gun and the article to be sprayed as the initial gun distance, starting to supply paint to the electrostatic spray gun, and measuring a second current value flowing in the voltage application circuit for the electrostatic spray gun while decreasing the gun distance at a prescribed speed; a fourth step for finding the current value when the measured first current value and the measured second current value are the same; and a fifth step for setting an abnormal detection threshold value at a value equal to or less than the current value found in the fourth step.
