Abstract:
The present invention provides an absolute encoder suitable to be reduced in thickness.
An absolute encoder for specifying an amount of rotation over a plurality of rotations of a main shaft 1a is provided with: a first drive gear which rotates in accordance with the rotation of the main shaft 1a; a first driven gear which meshes with the first drive gear; a second drive gear which rotates in accordance with the rotation of the first driven gear; a second driven gear which meshes with the second drive gear; and an angle sensor Sp which detects an angle of rotation of a second rotating body which rotates in accordance with the rotation of the second driven gear.
