An absorbent article comprising a liquid-permeable face sheet (3) positioned on the skin-side surface, and a back sheet (2) positioned on the clothing-side surface. First flexible axes (11) and second flexible axes (12) extend longitudinally of the absorbent article. First pressure contact sections are symmetrically disposed with respect to the longitudinal centerline (Oy-Oy) of the absorbent article and define a central absorption section (5) therebetween which has an absorption layer. The second flexible axes are symmetrically disposed with respect to the longitudinal centerline and are spaced outwardly from the first flexible axes, thus defining support sections (6) between the adjoining first and second flexible axes, and lateral ends (7) disposed outside the second flexible axes. The first flexible axes facilitate the bending of the support sections with respect to the central absorption section, and the second flexible axes facilitate the bending of the lateral ends with respect to the support sections.
