Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to achieve an absorbent article which is capable of effectively utilizing the whole of an absorbent to improve the absorption capacity for discharged liquid while securing the capacity to repeatedly diffuse the discharged liquid in a liquid diffusion sheet. That is, the present invention comprises a liquid-permeable sheet (2), a non-liquid-permeable sheet (3) which is provided on one side of the liquid-permeable sheet (2), and an absorbent (4) which is provided between the liquid-permeable sheet (2) and the non-liquid-permeable sheet (3). A liquid diffusion sheet (5) which is formed from a non-woven fabric that includes cellulose fibers and extends in a longitudinal direction of the absorbent (4) is provided between the absorbent (4) and the non-liquid-permeable sheet (3). In addition, multiple recesses (10) are provided which are formed by embossing from the non-liquid-permeable sheet side and compressing in a thickness direction the liquid diffusion sheet (5) and portions of the absorbent (4) that abut the liquid diffusion sheet (5), bottom (10a) sides of the recesses (10) being penetrated into the absorbent (4).
