Abstract:
An AC generator 1 for a vehicle is provided with: a stator (20); a rotor (30) having a Lundell-type core (31) and a field winding (37); a first and second cooling fan (40, 45) secured to the axial-direction end surface of the Lundell-type core, the first and second cooling fans (40, 45) generating cooling wind along with the rotation of the rotor; and a fan base (50) disposed between the second cooling fan and the Lundell-type core, the fan base (50) rectifying the cooling wind. The Lundell-type core has a plurality of U-shaped gaps (36) formed on the outer peripheral section of the axial-direction end surface with a distance therebetween in the circumferential direction. The fan base has a plurality of large-diameter sections (53a-53c) and small-diameter sections (54a-54c) disposed alternating in the circumferential direction, at least one of the small-diameter sections being disposed so as to face a U-shaped gap in the axial direction.
