Abstract:
Provided is an accelerator wherein space for disposing a machine to be integrated in an accelerator magnet can be secured readily, the accelerator having, at different positions in the beam circling direction, a condensed region where beam turn separations become dense, and a spread region where the beam turn separations become sparse. In this accelerator, each of a pair of magnetic poles (8, 9) has, among a plurality of raised and recessed structures, recessed structures at positions intersecting with a vertical plane (3). Boundary surfaces (41, 44, 45, 48) between the recessed structures (21, 23) disposed at the positions intersecting with the vertical plane (3) and raised structures (31, 32, 33, 34) that are adjacent to these recessed structures are identically convex or concave relative to the vertical plane (3).
