Abstract:
Provided is an accelerator that can produce, with good accuracy, a charged particle beam having a desired energy level. An acceleration voltage measuring circuit (10) outputs an acceleration voltage signal (Vacc) as a measurement signal obtained by measuring a high-frequency acceleration voltage excited in an acceleration cavity (9). A low-power high-frequency control system (25) inputs, as high-frequency power into the acceleration cavity (9), a high-frequency control power of a constant frequency included in a range of resonant frequencies of the acceleration cavity (9). When the phase difference between the acceleration voltage signal (Vacc) and the high-frequency control power is within a prescribed value, the low-power high-frequency control system (25) inputs, into the acceleration cavity (9), a high-frequency acceleration power synchronized to an acceleration frequency, which is the frequency of the acceleration voltage signal (Vacc), as high-frequency power through feedback control. Subsequently, if the acceleration frequency reaches an output frequency (Fext), the low-power high-frequency control system (25) stops input of the high-frequency acceleration power into the acceleration cavity (9).
