Abstract:
Provided is an acoustic signal encoding method capable of encoding even acoustic signals that have many channels at a sufficient bitrate. The acoustic signal encoding method is implemented by an encoding device 1, and encodes a multichannel acoustic signal. First, a masking threshold corresponding to the spatial auditory masking effect is calculated. Then, the amount of information to be allocated for each channel of the multichannel acoustic signal is determined using the calculated masking threshold. Thereafter, the multichannel acoustic signal is encoded using the respectively assigned amounts of information. Thus, it is possible to encode even multichannel acoustic signals at a sufficient bitrate.
