Title:
ACOUSTIC SOOT BLOWER, AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/053754
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An acoustic soot blower for removing dust adhering to a member installed in the interior of a boiler furnace or the like or for suppressing the adhesion of dust to the member, which comprises an acoustic oscillator adapted to oscillate acoustic waves by compressed air or vapor, a frequency regulator capable of changing the frequency of the acoustic waves oscillated by the acoustic oscillator, a resonating sleeve for resonating and amplifying the oscillated acoustic waves, and a horn. The frequency regulator is a gas mixer connected to the upstream side of the acoustic oscillator and having two or more gas introducing flow channels for introducing compressive gases different in temperature and/or density or is a slide mechanism capable of changing the length of the resonating sleeve. Since oscillation is made possible by regulating an appropriate oscillation frequency agreeing with the operating conditions of boilers and the like, it becomes possible to remove, or suppress adhesion of, dust such as ash adhering to a heat transfer pipe in operating conditions of a wide range of soot blower subject devices (such as a boiler).
