Abstract:
Provided is an acoustic wave device capable of suppressing deterioration of frequency characteristics without roughening the rear face of a piezoelectric substrate. A structure (20) is bonded to a face (mating surface) (12b), of a piezoelectric substrate (12), other than a main surface (12a) upon which IDTs (14 and 16) have been formed. The structure (20) is configured so as to be excited by the IDT (14), and among bulk waves which propagate toward the mating surface (12b) within the piezoelectric substrate (12), a second component which is different from a first component which reflects at the mating surface (12b) enters the structure (20) from the mating surface (12b), whereupon after propagating within the structure (20), the second component enters the piezoelectric substrate (12) from the mating surface (12b), and within the piezoelectric substrate (12), propagates in the same direction (36) as the first component which has reflected at the mating surface so that a path difference is formed between the first component and the second component.
