Abstract:
Disclosed are a process and an apparatus for producing an acrylic acid from an acrolein-containing composition at high efficiency and an acrolein-containing composition. The process for producing an acrylic acid comprises: a purification step for removing phenol and/or 1-hydroxyacetone from an acrolein-containing composition; and an oxidation step for oxidizing acrolein in the acrolein-containing composition after the purification step to produce the acrylic acid. The apparatus for the method comprises a purifier to be used for the purification step and an oxidation reactor for oxidizing acrolein to produce the acrylic acid. The acrolein-containing composition has a ratio of the mass of phenol to the mass of acrolein of 0.020 or less and a ratio of the mass of 1-hydroxyacetone to the mass of acrolein of 0.020 or less.
