Abstract:
Disclosed are: an acrylonitrile-containing fiber which has excellent spinning properties, has an apparent specific gravity of 0.8 to 1.1 and therefore is lightweight, and is soft to the touch; a process for producing the fiber; and a pile cloth comprising the fiber. The fiber can be produced by spinning a spinning raw material solution comprising a polymer (A) and a polymer (B), and is characterized in that the sum total of the weight of polymer (A) and the weight of the polymer (B) is 100 parts by weight, the polymer (A) is contained in an amount of 90 to 99 parts by weight, the polymer (B) is contained in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by weight, the polymer (A) is produced by polymerizing a composition comprising 40 to 97 wt% of acrylonitrile and 3 to 60 wt% of another copolymerizable monomer, the polymer (B) is produced by polymerizing a composition comprising 10 to 40 wt% of a sulfonic-acid-containing monomer and 60 to 90 wt% of another copolymerizable monomer and can be dissolved in a mixed solvent comprising water and a spinning solvent, and the apparent specific gravity of the fiber is 0.8 to 1.1.
