Abstract:
The present invention relates to an active headrest. Particularly, the active headrest comprises a headrest body connected to the top of a seat, and a head support pad connected to the front of the headrest body. The head support pad is connected to the headrest body via at least one guide unit which is pivotably connected to the head support pad so as to move linearly and to rotate, and via at least one member for storing elastic force. The guide unit is arranged so as to enable the head support pad to advance forward from the headrest body when an impact is applied by an external source when elastic force is stored in the elastic force storing member. The thus-configured active headrest prevents damage to the cervical spine of an occupant of a seat upon the occurrence of a rear collision of a vehicle.
