Abstract:
Provided is an active line detection device for detecting whether an optical path formed by connecting the ends of two optical fibers is in an active state or not, said active line detection device being characterized by the provision of a light-leaking part, which is provided to the connection between the two optical fibers and causes some of the light propagated in the core of one of the optical fibers to leak into the cladding of the other optical fiber, a light-receiving element, which detects the light that leaks from the light-leaking part and enters a light-receiving surface, and a light-transmitting layer, which is configured from a material that transmits the light leaked from the light-leaking part and is interposed between the light-receiving element and the other optical fiber. Therein, the light-transmitting layer forms a light-guide path for guiding the light leaked from the light-leaking part to the light-receiving element over the interval between the outer peripheral surface of the other optical fiber and the light-receiving surface of the light-receiving element, and the light-receiving element is disposed at an angle relative to the outer peripheral surface of the other optical fiber so that the light-receiving surface faces the light-leaking part.
