Abstract:
A vehicle door latch device configured so that the pivoting of a gear which is performed by motor drive reliably moves a lock lever to a lock position and an unlock position. When a lock lever (19) is at a lock position, if a worm wheel (18) is rotated in one direction by a motor, a first engagement protrusion section (182) makes contact with a first engagement arm (191) in the direction of the pivoting thereof, the lock lever (19) is pivoted to an unlock position, and after that, a second engagement protrusion section (183) makes contact with a pivoting end section (192a) of a second engagement arm (192) to cause the worm wheel (18) to stop at a first stop position. Also, when the lock lever (19) is at the unlock position, if the worm wheel (18) is rotated in the other direction by the motor, a second engagement protrusion section (184) makes contact with the second engagement arm (192) in the direction of the pivoting thereof, the lock lever (19) is pivoted to a lock position, and after that, a first engagement protrusion section (181) makes contact with a pivoting end section (191a) of the first engagement arm (191) to cause the worm wheel (18) to stop at a second stop position.
